1. an amateur who engages in an activity without serious intentions and who pretends to have knowledge
2. A pretentious attitude of scholarship; superficial knowledgeability.

sal·ma·gun·di

  2. A mixture or assortment; a potpourri.

As the by line states... "A dog's breakfast of opinion, conjecture and wild-ass guesses." As the mood hits and the muses cajole, thoughts, rants, opinions, speculations and diatribes will appear on this blog. Phelonius and myself (Sal) , as well as the occasional guest writer, will be using this as our cyber-podium and intelectual litter box. So come back often and have a scratch around and smell what we're puttin' down here at the Sciolist Salmagundi.

Sal
