Sometimes you just have to get it off you chest...

Khan!

So, it's Shatner day here at the Salmagundi. A short celebration of the man that has given so much (just enough?) to so many. He represents a sort of cultural comfort food for me. From reruns of Star Trek growing up, or watching T.J. Hooker as a teen to his latest incarnation on Boston Legal, ole Bill has been the average guy made good for me. One of the few guys in entertainment that seems to remember that he's just a schmuck who's job puts him on TV, nothing more.

So as part of Salmagundi Shatner day I'd like to direct you to Bill's latest record "Has Been" produced by Ben Folds. If you go to the high bandwidth site there is a great stream of significant portions of the CD along with some interviews. Well worth the time to listen.

Enjoy,

Sal

  • i've heard of _has been_ from another friend, who kept it on auto-repeat on work. I checked the site, and was pleasantly surprised. Good to hear that Shatner's keeping relevant. :-)

  • Ben Folds did a good job producing the CD and Bill makes some interesting comments in his speaking (could hardly be called singing). As much as I like the guy I don't think I could put it on auto repeat though.
